Σταθερό μέλημα του Σεβασμιότατου Αρχιεπισκόπου Μαρωνιτών παραμένει πάντοτε το μέλλον της Μαρωνίτικης Κοινότητας όπως και το καλό όλων των κοινοτήτων της Κύπρου σε μια επικείμενη διευθέτηση του Κυπριακού προβλήματος.
Ως Πατέρας που νοιάζεται για το παρών και το μέλλον των παιδιών του, ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος συνεχίζει τις άοκνες προσπάθειες του για επίτευξη αυτού του στόχου.
Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο και εν μέσω των συνεχιζόμενων εντατικών συνομιλιών για μια βιώσιμη και διαρκή λύση, ο Σεβασμιότατος και ο νέο εκλεγέντας εκπρόσωπος των Μαρωνιτών στην Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων κ. Γ. Μούσας, ένωσαν δυνάμεις, εξέδωσαν κοινή δήλωση και είχαν διάφορες σημαντικές συναντήσεις για να παρουσιάσουν με σαφήνεια και αποφασιστικότητα τις σκέψεις, θέσεις, απόψεις και αξιώσεις της Κοινότητας μας .
Στις 30.8.2016 ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος και ο Εκπρόσωπος μαζί με τους κοινοτάρχες των 4 Μαρωνίτικων χωριών είχαν συνάντηση στο Προεδρικό Μέγαρο με τον Πρόεδρο της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας κ. Νίκο Αναστασιάδη στο οποίο μετέφεραν την αξίωση της Κοινότητας να ανήκει, σε μια επικείμενη λύση, στο ελληνοκυπριακό συνιστών κράτος λόγω ισχυρότατων κοινωνικών και πολιτιστικών δεσμών, λόγω γλώσσας, παράδοσης, θρησκείας .
Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, την 1.9.2016, συναντήθηκαν με τον Ειδικό Απεσταλμένο του ΟΗΕ Espen Barth Eide, και στις 6.9.2016 έγιναν δεκτοί από τον Υπουργό Εξωτερικών της Δημοκρατίας κ. Ιωάννη Κασουλίδη.
Στις 7.9.2016 ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σουέηφ συνόδευσε τον κ. Μούσα στο BKERKE όπου έγιναν δεκτοί από τον εκλαμπρότατο Καρδινάλιο και Πατριάρχη Αντιοχείας και Πάσης Ανατολής των Μαρωνιτών ο οποίος υποστηρίζει τις προσπάθειες επίλυσης του Κυπριακού και στηρίζει τις αξιώσεις της κοινότητας μας.
Στις 14.9.2016 συνοδευόμενοι από τον Πρέσβη της Κύπρου στην Αγία Έδρα κ. Πουλίδη, πραγματοποίησα ν επίσκεψη στο Βατικανό και συναντήθηκαν με τον Σεβ. Αρχιεπίσκοπο Paul Gallaher Υφυπουργό Σχέσεων με τα Κράτη καθώς και με τον Καρδινάλιο Leonardo Sandri, Πρόεδρο της Συνόδου για τις Ανατολικές Εκκλησίες .
Σε όλες τις πιο πάνω συναντήσεις τους ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σουέηφ και ο κ. Μούσας τόνισαν την σημασία της επιστροφής των Μαρωνιτών στα χώρια τους, στην γη των Πατέρων τους, στις περιουσίες τους, στα μοναστήρια τους καθώς και το συνταγματικό δικαίωμα της αναγνώρισης τους ως μειονότητα . Μια κοινότητα ανοικτή σε όλες τις άλλες κοινότητες και παραδόσεις που επιθυμεί την αρμονική συμβίωση για ένα μέλλον ειρηνικό, για συμφιλίωση και ευημερία.
Important Meetings for the future of the Maronite Community in Cyprus
The future of the Maronite Community and the good of all the people of Cyprus in a forthcoming settlement for a just, viable and peaceful solution to the country’s problem, remains a constant concern of H E The Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus Youssef Soueif.
As a Father who cares for all his children, for their present and their future, His Excellency continues his tireless efforts towards every direction for the achievement of this objective.
In this context and in the framework of the on-going intensified talks, Archbishop Soueif and the newly elected Maronite Representative in the House of Parliament Mr. Y. Moussas, have joint their efforts, issued a common statement and held various important meetings to present clearly and with determination the views, thoughts and claims of the Maronites of Cyprus in the current round of the talks.
On 30.8.2016 the Maronite Archbishop together with the Maronite Representative and the Mouchtars of the four Maronite villages had a meeting with the President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades to present jointly the Community’s urgent request and vital claim that all Maronite villages, monasteries, land and properties, constitute an integral part of the Greek Cypriot constituent state both geographically and administratively due to their educational, cultural, religious and social background, their common language and long running bonds and relations.
In this respect, on 1.9.2016 they met Espen Barth Eide, the UN Special Adviser of the Secretary General and on 6.9.2016 they were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Mr Ioannis Kasoulides.
On 7.9.2016 Archbishop Soueif accompanied Mr Moussas to a meeting at Bkerke Lebanon with His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai Patriarch of the Maronites of Antioch and all the East, who encourages and supports their joint and tireless efforts and works also for the same purpose.
On 14.9.2016 the Maronite Archbishop and the Maronite Representative were accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Holy See Mr Poullides and paid an official visit to the Vatican to HE Arcbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with the States. Later on, they had a meeting with His Eminence Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches who have also expressed their full support to the Maronite Community’s claims.
In all their aforementioned meetings, Archbishop Soueif and the newly elected Representative Mr Moussas, stressed the vital importance of the Maronites for the return to their villages, their monasteries, their land and properties and the constitutional recognition of the Maronite Community as a national minority that is open to all other traditions on the island, playing an essential role in promoting and conserving the spirit of co- existence and the values of peace and reconciliation.
