“Who will take care if something happens to us? We are old, our children stayed in the South, we are in the North, ”said Maria Skoullou, the owner of Yorgo Butcher Restaurant, a resident of Kormakit, and asked how long Maronites living in Kormacit village would long for children.
Reaching the GIYNIK Newspaper, Maria Skoullou said that she had not been able to see her children living in Southern Cyprus for 11 months due to the difficulties in coming and going to the country due to the pandemic.
Stating that about 30 old people living in Kormacit also longed for children, Maria said, “There are 30 old people here. They live alone in the village. These people are old, they want to see their children. What if something happens to these people one day tomorrow? Everyone wants to see their child. We’ve been here since 1974 and we’re old now. If something happens tomorrow, who will look after these people? ” he asked.
Stating that they could not get a solution to their problems from the state officials, Maria Skoullou said that no state institution has helped for months. We have been separated from our family. We miss our children and our brothers. We miss our family, holiday is coming, but can’t we see our holiday children? I haven’t been able to see my children for a year. My mother cannot see her grandchildren. Mothers can not see their children ”and rebelled.
