In coordination with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Cyprus, Msgr.George Panamthundil, and the Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Cyprus Rev. Fr. Bruno Varriano, weraise our prayers, together with the Latin Catholic Church in Cyprus, for the eternal rest of thePope Emeritus Benedict XVI, one of the shiny theologians who left their touch on his century, aswe remember his blessed visit to our land in 2010.
The Holy Father Pope Francis will preside over the funeral on January 5, 2023 at 9.30a.m. (Rome time) in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and I will be attending the funeral as theMaronite Archbishop of Cyprus.
We are all invited to join in the prayer of suffrage for our Pope Emeritus Benedict XVIand in the Holy Mass on January 7, 2023, at 6.30 p.m. at the Holy Cross Church in Nicosia. TheMass will be presided over by H.E. Msgr. Adolfo Tito Yllana, Apostolic Nuncio for Cyprus. Weask all the Maronite priests on the Island, to celebrate Masses for the rest of his soul, thisThursday, January 5, 2023.
As we also announce that on January 4 and 5, 2023, a book of condolences will be openfor signing at the Apostolic Nunciature in Cyprus in the premises of the Holy Cross Church in Nicosia, Paphos Gate 1, 1010 Nicosia, from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
